Life Critical Safety Rules:
The following Life Critical Safety Rules are in place to prevent serious injury and harm to employees. Each of these rules are key components to a safe work environment.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- All personnel working in any field locations must wear the required PPE for the work being performed.
- Additional/specialized PPE, such as gloves, goggles, face shields will be worn based on potential hazards.
- PPE must be maintained in good condition.
Vehicle Safety
- All drivers have a responsibility to use good judgement when driving paying special attention during adverse weather conditions.
- Drives must obey all traffic laws.
- Cell phones are not allowed when the vehicle is in motion, Drivers should pull over when safe and when the vehicle is at a complete stop, they may use the phone.
- Seatbelts must be worn at all times.
Work Permitting
- All work must be permitted based on-site location requirements.
- Job site visit is required between the groups involved with a permit to assure that work requirements have be reviewed.
- All employees working shall be listed on the safe work permit.
Energy Isolation (Lock Out – Tag Out)
- Every person performing a task must be protected from all associated hazardous energy.
- All sources of energy must be identified, isolated and field verified.
- Never remove or cut off a lock, or other control, without following the appropriate procedure for removal.
Fall Protection
- All personnel working higher than 4′ without a standard railing must utilize fall protection.
- 100% tie off must be followed at all times.
- Tie off point must be strong enough to provide adequate protection.
- Fall protection equipment must be inspected prior to use and removed from service if any damage is detected.
Confined Space Entry
- The confined space must be emptied, cleaned and ventilated.
- Atmospheric monitoring will be conducted based on site requirements.
- All lines connected to the confined space must be disconnected and the confined must be blinded before entry is allowed.
- A trained attendant must be in place prior to and for the duration of any entries.
- All personnel entering a confined space must be trained.
